Age: 61 years
Position: Services Manager at Cairns South Communities for Children
Organisation: Mission Australia
Jane had participated in information sessions regarding the position, before it became available. Being passionate about early childhood intervention, led Jane to be interested in this particular role.
Jane applied as soon as the position became available. She simply filled out an online application and posted the additional information and certificates as required. Jane found the whole process very easy, fair and transparent.
Jane undertook an induction and OH&S training once she accepted the role and has now been at Cairns South Communities for Children for over 2 years.
Jane loves the fact that she’s making a difference in the community – her staff are committed to the job, the agency ‘walks the talk’ and her team are really passionate about helping children.
The Cairns South Communities for Children as part of Mission Australia raises awareness of being child friendly in the community, and services for children now exist in areas that previously didn’t have any facilities.
It’s a serious job, but there is also a lot fun involved as Jane and her team regularly organise free events for parents, carers and their children.
Jane hopes to continue being a mentor, tutor and enabler throughout the rest of her career.
