Tanya Hornberg

Tanya applied for an administrative role at Employability in 2005 after seeing an ad in her local paper. With previous experience in the disability sector Tanya submitted her job application, CV and relevant certificates without delay.

Tanya obtained a Business Administration qualification through TAFE, and was also a Director of her own company; so had plenty of skills to contribute to the role and organisation.

Tanya was employed in May 2005 and underwent a full induction and two week job specific training with the support of her coordinator and co-workers.

After almost 3 years in her role, Tanya has become very passionate about the role that Employability plays in the community, which in turn helps motivate her. Tanya loves the flexibility and responsibility that her job gives her, as well as the people she works with.

Employability helps people with disabilities find employment. This has a domino effect for the community, as employers find much needed staff and the employee gains financial independence and confidence, becoming self sufficient.

Finding disabled people work also increases community awareness, and demonstrates that people with disabilities can be productive members of the society too.

Tanya hopes to still be with Employability in 10 years time and looks forward to building on her skills and progressing her career.

Since starting her role at Employability Tanya has undertaken a number of training courses, including; workplace behaviour, disability & mental health team training, business operating systems.....
