Self-Assessment Manual
The Self-Assessment manual (PDF 2.4 MB) has been developed to inform organisations about requirements under the Standards for Community Services and to assist them complete their self-assessment and develop an improvement plan. It is a learning guide for organisational planning and development to improve service quality.
The manual is divided into two parts:
- Part A explains the main steps involved in implementing the standards; the purpose and benefits of the standards; and the principles underpinning quality services.
- Part B outlines key features of the standards and provides a step-by-step guide to self-assessment and reporting results.
Self-Assessment Workbook
The Self-Assessment Workbook (PDF 2.6 MB) has been developed to assist organisations to complete their self-assessments and develop an improvement plan. It includes data collection pages for gathering evidence of practice against the standards; score sheets; templates for reporting and developing an improvement plan; and a client survey.
The workbook should be used in conjunction with the self-assessment manual. It is strongly recommended that you read the manual before commencing your self-assessment.
Electronic Self-Assessment Tool (eSAT 2.0.1 UPGRADED VERSION)
All organisations that are required to conduct a self-assessment against the Standards for Community Services should download the upgraded version eSAT 2.0.1 (Access 6.1 MB) and use the upgraded version of the User Guide to complete your assessment.
Using eSAT, an organisation can conduct its self-assessment on-line and generate improvement plans and self-assessment summaries.
You may or may not have already begun your self-assessment using the original version of eSAT. If you have begun, you will be able to import all of the work you have already done into the upgraded version of eSAT.
The way you install this new version of eSAT is also affected by whether your computer already has Microsoft Access installed.
This Userguide (DOC 3.62 MB) provides instructions about using eSAT once it is installed. It is recommended that you print a copy of the User guide, and refer to it as you install the new version of eSAT.
Appendix 1 in the User Guide it gives clear instructions for how to go about installing the latest version of eSAT, and to import any work on your self-assessment that you have already done. The instructions provide options for upgrading to the new eSAT, which includes the need for a Microsoft access program on your computer. If you do not already have Access on your computer, you can download Microsoft Access Runtime exe.

Instructions:
- Download the eSAT 2.0.1 (Zip 5.8 MB) by right-clicking on the link and selecting 'Save Target As...' from the menu provided. Save the file on your hard drive and remember where you saved it.
- Open the Install Guide (Word 517 kB) by right-clicking on the link and selecting ‘Open’ from the menu provided.
- The Upgrade Guide will be opened in Microsoft Word. Print out this document and follow the instruction on it to install or upgrade to the new version of eSAT.
