Two of Nicki’s colleagues notice a poster in the lunch room promoting the mentoring programme. 

Bev

Gonna sign up are you?

Jenny

Nah... It’s not for me.

Bev

(Sarcasm) What? You don’t want to take off to have coffee with your mentor instead of staying back to finish up?

Jenny

And go to committee meetings and mingle with the big wigs?

Bev

Yeah, like that Nicki Lester. I wouldn’t have thought she’d be up for it either but she spends more time down the café with that Lisa Murrie than she does here these days.

Jenny

Well, you gotta admit it has its perks. Who goes to all the workshops?

Bev

Not us that’s for sure.

Jenny

And who’s in line for the coordinator’s job? Guarantee it won’t be us because we’re the ones doing all the work instead of mixing with management.

Bev

True.

Jenny

It’s all about “who you know, not what you know.”

Narrator

Nicki’s colleagues don’t understand the mentoring program. They’re not aware of the hard work she’s putting in and the commitment she’s made to improve her skills and understanding.
