Others in the workplace have also been observing the mentoring process and discussing its rewards. Unfortunately the perceptions of others, whether they are accurate or otherwise, can have an impact on the outcomes of mentoring. Maintaining ethical conduct at all times will alleviate but not eliminate feelings of jealousy and rumours.
If a mentor puts in a good word for their mentee when there is the possibility of promotion, is this favouritism?
