Introduction
As community workers in remote and rural areas you will need skills, knowledge and tools to monitor client behaviour. The types of people in need or crisis will range from youth, elderly, disabled and culturally diverse clients who will present with a variety of issues.
Monitoring client behaviour is an important function of community work as it assists staff to understand clients and their issues, and to identify and manage challenging behaviours. There are both formal and informal methods to observe, assess and monitor behaviour, the selection and use of which will depend on the practices, policies and procedures of the agency you work with.
