Introduction
Our families of origin, along with the communities to which we belong, have influenced the development of our ideas and attitudes. This process is called socialisation. Depending on our exposure to different cultural groups during that time, we can make a number of untested cultural assumptions. These cultural assumptions can lead to cultural bias and misunderstandings.
Within the workplace, if these misunderstandings between workers and co-workers or between worker and clients are not successfully resolved, they can develop into conflicts that will impact on the quality and effectiveness of service delivery.
